In other second-round action involving seeds, No. 2 Argentine David Nalbandian outlasted Belgian qualifier Kristof Vliegen 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), No. 3 Argentine Juan Martin del Potro pasted Swiss wild card Stephane Bohli 6-3, 6-3 and No. 4 American James Blake overcame Spaniard Oscar Hernandez 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-4. Nalbandian titled here back in 2002.
One other Day-4 bout saw the aforementioned Bolelli take out Spaniard Marcel Granollers 6-4, 6-2.
Friday's other quarters will pit Nalbandian against German qualifier Benjamin Becker, del Potro versus sixth-seeded Russian Igor Andreev and Blake against Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.
